The Spring Exhibitions Wind Down at The William Benton Museum of Art

May 9 is the last day to see the spring exhibitions at the William Benton Museum of Art:
CounterMart: An Installation by Abby Manock
Poem & Picture
The 2010 Master of Fine Arts Exhibition

CounterMart isAbby Manock's crayon-colored convenience store counter, filled with smiley faces and happy images. But a less-than-cheerful element prevails with a chanting voiceover that counts from one to five, over and over again, in a monotone. Manock has masterfully blended drawing, sculpture, installation, performance and video into an effective presentation of social and political realities.

Poem & Picture presents collaborative works by 20th century artists and poets, including Willem De Kooning and Harold Rosenberg,Peter Grippe and Dylan Thomas, and Franz Klein and Frank O'Hara. While their works complement one another, they also enhance one another, together creating something that is greater than its parts. The Ariel Poems(1927–1954), a collection of limited edition illustrated poems, is represented byT. S. Eliot and E. McKnight Kauffer, and D. H. Lawrence and Althea Willoughby, among others.
